FAQs – Let’s Clear Things Up

Q: You’re moving?! And what’s MWC Hair?

A: Yep, big shifts all around. After 11 amazing years as Hair Society in The Junction, I’m stepping into something more personal—MWC Hair. A fresh name, a new space in Newcastle East, and a solo setup that reflects where I’m headed creatively. Still close by, still me—just with a new chapter with better light and a new energy.

Q: How do I book an appointment?

A: Right now, booking is as personal as your fringe trim. Head to the Contact page to book online. As I transition from managing a full team to running a one-person salon studio (hello, solo era), bookings are a little more curated—but still easy. I appreciate your patience while I settle into this new groove.

Q: How do I find MWC Hair?

A: You’ll find MWC Hair inside Salon Society & Co, on the Upper Level of 141 King Street, Newcastle.
Here’s how to spot us:

– Look for the iconic red-brick heritage building marked “Central Hall”—that’s where Bartholomew’s Bar is.
– Just to the left of that building is a discreet walkway. Head down that laneway (yes, you’re in the right place), then take the stairs up to the upper level.
Salon Society & Co is upstairs, and MWC Hair is tucked inside the space.

If all else fails, type MWC Hair into Google Maps and follow the little blue dot. Or shoot a message and we’ll talk you in like a runway landing.

Q: What’s the parking situation like?

A: Let’s clear this up – parking is not a big deal. Yes, we’re in the city now. Yes, there are parking meters. But if you arrive a few minutes early, finding a spot on the street is rarely an issue.

Local tip: There’s 2-hour free parking at Woolworths Metro just across the road (shhh, we didn’t tell you)

And if you’re feeling extra organised, there’s plenty of parking along Wharf Road by the harbour—a lovely 5-minute walk that doubles as a pre-hair-appointment mood reset.

Basically: if you can navigate a shopping centre car park on a Saturday, you can park near MWC Hair. Promise.

Q: Will my stylist still be there?

A: You’ll have Mitch—start to finish. From consultation to the final spritz of texture spray, it’s all in his hands. No handoffs, no distractions, no confusion. Just a one-on-one experience with someone who actually remembers how you like your layers. This new space was built for that kind of focus.

Q: Are you still doing colour?

A: My focus is on what I do best – cutting, shaping, and styling hair that feels like you. If you’re looking to explore colour, I work alongside some incredibly talented colour specialists (like Molly!) and I’m always happy to recommend someone I trust.

If you’re an existing client and we’ve worked with colour before – don’t stress. We’ll chat and figure out what suits best for you going forward.

Q: What’s your cancellation policy?

A: Life happens—we get it. But please give at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations under 48 hours (or no-shows) will incur a fee, because that time is reserved just for you—and empty chairs don’t pay the bills.

Q: Is the new space fancy?

A: Think relaxed, refined, and curated. Less hustle, more intention. A space that feels calm, comfortable, and quietly beautiful—just like you after a fresh cut and colour.

Q: Can I still bring a friend or my kid?

A: If they’re cool, respectful, and won’t try to climb the walls—yes. This space is small and designed for one-on-one experiences, so it’s best to come solo when you can.
